ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Police confirm that the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Patton Avenue earlier this month was a well-known figure in the Asheville community, often seen with his pet cat.
Claude Alie-Alexander McPherson Jr., 62, died after being hit near the intersection of Patton Avenue and North Louisiana Avenue on June 10, 2025. McPherson’s name had previously been withheld while police worked to notify next of kin.
According to the initial investigation, a 2000 Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound in the far-right lane of Patton Avenue through a green traffic signal when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk. McPherson died at the scene…
