Construction begins on first new retirement community in WNC in over two decades

Site work is set to begin this week on Legacy at Mills River, a 216-unit retirement development billed as Western North Carolina’s first newly constructed Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in more than 25 years.

The project, led by Raleigh-based Retirement Living Associates and co-developed by Liberty Senior Living of Wilmington, includes a mix of apartments, duplexes and single-family homes on 112 acres along Jeffress Road, about eight miles south of Asheville.
