If you’re signing up for a recreation program, paying a library fine or pulling a building permit, Buncombe County is now charging a processing fee for credit card transactions.
The purpose of the fee is to recover the charge the county is hit with by credit card companies, which shave off a percentage of the transaction. The fee kept by the credit card company varies depending on the department, service, amount of purchase and other factors.
