ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The mayor of Asheville, a city still recovering from flooding and other damage caused by Hurricane Helene, has reached out to the leaders of two Texas communities that were devastated by recent deadly flash flooding.
In an email sent to Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring on Sunday, July 6, Mayor Esther Manheimer expressed support for the mayor and residents of the city, offering any help Asheville can provide. Manheimer also offered words of encouragement, drawing from her experience with Helene.
“Even in the face of such adversity, we are confident that the resilience, courage, and unity of the people of Kerrville will shine through. We experienced this devastation last fall and one thing I will say is that the strength of the community and the incredible number of people and organization that came to our aid, still shocks me to this day,” Manheimer wrote. “Communities like yours, bound together by compassion and determination, always find a way to emerge stronger. I have no doubt that Kerrville will recover and thrive again.”…
