ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A Burnsville man was arrested Monday afternoon after fleeing a traffic stop in Asheville, striking two vehicles — including a patrol car — and leading troopers on a brief pursuit, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The incident began around 4:45 p.m. when a state trooper stopped a vehicle for reckless driving on Patton Avenue, near Hazel Mill Road. Authorities said the driver, identified as 59-year-old Derrick Dwight McFee, exited the vehicle but refused to follow the trooper’s commands.
