Asheville Police Department detectives arrested one shooter following an investigation into gun shots being fired on a public street on Saturday, June 28.
The first incident took place on June 28 when officers responded around 2:32 a.m. to a report of a gun discharge on Atkinson Street. While canvassing the area, they located multiple shell casings and several damaged vehicles, but no victims. The preliminary investigation suggests that two men got into a verbal altercation, which escalated into a shootout.
In the second incident, officers responded to reports of a gun discharge in the 900 block of West Chapel Road around 10:57 p.m. on June 29.
