North Carolina to begin paying bills upfront for Henderson County Helene debris removal

HENDERSONVILLE – Henderson County will soon no longer need to pay upfront for removing debris from Tropical Storm Helene. Effective July 20, North Carolina will foot the bill directly.

At a Henderson County Board of Commissioners meeting July 16, members expressed concern that bills from debris removal contractors were piling up while promised reimbursement from FEMA seemed to be stalled.

Up until now, Henderson County has directly contracted with removal companies and written them checks from county coffers…
