HENDERSONVILLE – The first section of the Ecusta Trail is officially open. A ribbon cutting ceremony in downtown Hendersonville July 18 drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, despite the hot sun. Many of them brought along bikes.
Russell Pace, a doctor who works at UNC Health Blue Ridge and Pardee, lives right along the Ecusta Trail and regularly commutes to work on his bike along the up-until-now technically unfinished trail, he told the Times-News at the opening ceremony.
“I commuted my daughter to school today,” along the trail, on his electric bike with a child seat on the back that fits both his young kids, he said…
