Ecusta Trail brings traffic to trailside businesses from Hendersonville to Horse Shoe

HENDERSONVILLE – In recent weeks, Sam Runion has seen a lot of new faces in Packa’s Place, the business he and his wife Steelie own and operate in Horse Shoe. The couple grows pumpkins and gourds in the fall but in the summer, their beer garden, featuring live music, is the biggest draw.

“We’re butted right up against the (Ecusta) Trail, so it’s exposing us to a different kind of client base.”

The Ecusta Trail, a mixed-use path built along a defunct railroad, had been in use for months before a ribbon cutting July 18. Some owners are already seeing a benefit to their businesses from traffic along the open section, which runs for 5.5 miles from Hendersonville to Horse Shoe…
