SWANNANOA, N.C. — A North Carolina supermarket chain plans to build a new grocery store in Swannanoa to replace one that was damaged in Hurricane Helene.
According to Buncombe County, Ingles plans to build the new store in the Swannanoa Valley Shopping Center. It will be next to the old store in a building where a post office and Ace Hardware are located. The old store will be converted into a space for up to three new tenants.
“The project will include demolition of existing shops, raising the site elevation and construction of Ingles’ newest prototype grocery store,” said Pat Jackson, the chief financial officer of Ingles Markets, which is based in Black Mountain. “In addition, there will be new expanded small and large tenant space opportunities along with a new i Market.”…
