Nine whooping cough cases confirmed in Haywood County, mostly affecting children

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — There are nine confirmed cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, in Haywood County as of July 23, according to a Facebook post from the county’s health and human services department.

Among the confirmed cases, one is an adult, and the rest are children and teens under the age of 19, Haywood County Health and Human Services director Sarah Banks confirmed with News 13.
