Haywood County installs message boards to improve communication during emergencies

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — When Helene hit western North Carolina, it was virtually impossible to make phone calls or access the internet, leading Haywood County to work on ways to keep people more informed in situations like Helene.

Message boards are decidedly low tech, but Haywood County Emergency Services says they could play a vital role during emergencies.
