Conservation group receives $20,000 grant to plant native river cane in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A local conservation group is using a $20,000 grant to bring native river cane back to the local rivers.

RiverLink secured the grant from the Cherokee Preservation Foundation to plant native river cane at three riverside parks in Asheville.

The plant is one of the few native species of bamboo found in the western North Carolina mountains…
