130 key acres outside Asheville protected from development

Over 100 acres in West Asheville have been protected from development, conserving wildlife habitats and scenic views.

The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy purchased 130 acres at Starnes Cove near Deaverview Mountain from former landowner Kathy Hamilton.

“This property is one of the few large, undeveloped tracts of land just outside the Asheville City limits,” said SAHC Land Protection Director Michelle Pugliese. “The 3,500-foot High Top peak is visible from the Biltmore Estate, Candler and other points in the region. This tract was under development pressure, and thankfully the landowner chose to conserve the land.”…
