Asheville YWCA offers free childcare for employee families

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) of Asheville is taking steps to support its employees by providing free onsite childcare.

YWCA of Asheville says this benefit is a direct response to childcare being out of reach for the people providing it, saying many struggle to access consistent and affordable care for their children.

“Providing free childcare for our staff is one way we’re living our values,” said Diana Sierra, CEO of the YWCA of Asheville, in a news release. “We can’t say we believe in equity if the people doing the work can’t access the very resources we offer. This is about honoring our team and also calling attention to a system that doesn’t work—not just for us, but for Asheville, North Carolina, and the country.”…
