U.S. Army Corps begins project to demolish condemned homes in Buncombe County

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is in a new phase of private property clean-up. The corps has started a new contract to demolish 22 condemned homes in Buncombe County.

The Corp did a time-lapse video on Wednesday, August 13, of the first home in Black Mountain taken down.

“The demolition is the first of 22 contracted properties within Buncombe County with a Personal Property Debris Removal Right of Entry package approved by FEMA and USACE for demolition due to unrepairable damage caused by Hurricane Helene,” the time-lapse video’s caption reads in part…
