FAIRVIEW, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Nearly a year after Tropical Storm Helene wreaked havoc on Western North Carolina, the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department is on track to finish a much-anticipated construction and remodeling project at its main station in Buncombe County.
The department started the renovation and addition project in June 2024, marking its first significant update since 1997. However, progress was interrupted when Helene hit in September 2024, causing flooding that damaged the building and forced firefighters to evacuate.
