Fugitive previously deemed ‘armed and dangerous’ now in custody after hospital release

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A suspect who was previously declared “armed and dangerous” is now in custody after he was released from the hospital.

Nicholas D.J. Ivers, 27, was on the run from law enforcement after he allegedly broke into a home in the Royal Pines area on Tuesday, July 29. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) confirmed he was, at that time, considered to be “armed and dangerous,” leading to a search.

On the evening of July 30, a hiker spotted Ivers on the Blue Ridge Parkway and notified a park ranger. A “disoriented” Ivers was then taken to the hospital, where they found he was “suffering from a gunshot wound to the head,” according to BCSO…
