ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — During the morning hours of Tuesday, Aug. 26, a vehicle veered off Lyman Street and went over an embankment and into the French Broad River, according to the Asheville Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the scene to perform a water rescue. By 8:50 a.m., the driver had been safely extracted from the vehicle in the water, officials said.
John Harbin, communications specialist with the Asheville Fire Department, told News 13 that the driver was transported to the hospital. There was no update on the driver’s condition, Harbin said.
