CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three Weddington High School students organized a 5K run to support school communities that are still recovering from Hurricane Helene’s devastation nearly a year after the storm struck Western North Carolina.
The Carolina Comeback 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run took place on Saturday at McAlpine Creek Park, with all proceeds benefiting the Buncombe County Schools Foundation. The event was presented by the Stride Forward Foundation, a nonprofit founded by the Charlotte-area students earlier this year.
