ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (BWAR) is celebrating its successes after a tough year of recovery from Helene.
The Asheville-based animal rescue said it has placed more than 450 pets into loving homes so far in 2025. BWAR said it has also helped more than 350 families keep their pets this year through its Stay Together program.

Brother Wolf is currently without a permanent building after flooding related to Helene destroyed its Glendale Avenue Adoption Center, located just off Swannanoa River Road.
Despite not having a building, Brother Wolf says it is still answering the call from shelters across the mountains, stepping in when rural areas are filled to capacity. BWAR said more than 500 animals in the rescue’s care are currently staying in foster homes around the region…
