Another WNC leader says Homeland Secretary’s office is stalling Helene reimbursements

MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A day after Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer said millions in Helene reimbursements are being bottlenecked in U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s office, Madison County’s manager, Rod Honeycutt, says he’s facing problems too.

“I’m pretty sure it’s Secretary Noem’s office,” said Honeycutt. “I understand control measures and looking for efficiency. But right now, a $100,000 limitation per transaction at the national level is too restrictive.”
