Some Asheville roads may see lower speed limits pending city council vote, NCDOT approval

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — City council members will vote Tuesday to reduce speed limits on some of Asheville’s roads, and many residents say they’re on board with this.

“I have a lot of friends on the road cycling side of things, and it’s definitely a dangerous area to be on a road bike with how fast traffic goes sometimes,” said Grant Godfrey, an Asheville resident.

“I’m on my bike a lot and it definitely feels unsafe in a lot of parts of the city to be riding the bike,” said John Sauvigne, a cyclist who regularly rides on Hominy Creek Road and Craven Street, two of seven roads where the city is looking to reduce the speed limit…
