Asheville 9/11 remembrance ceremony honors unity, sacrifice of first responders

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The Asheville Fire Department held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony Thursday morning to honor the thousands of lives taken 24 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001.

The remembrance event featured opening remarks by Fire Chief Mike Cayse, a moment of silence, the ringing of bells, and the raising of flags.

A crowd gathered to honor those lost in the 9/11 attacks and remember those who continue to serve. The ceremony paid tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives to save thousands of people in the Twin Towers and those involved in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero…
