Hendersonville children’s museum honored for Helene relief efforts with national award

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A children’s museum in Hendersonville has received national recognition for its rapid response in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

The Hands On! Children’s Museum was given the Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award from the Association of Science and Technology Centers.

This award recognizes the museum’s response after the deadly storm, in which it became a vital resource for the community. The museum provided food, baby supplies, hot meals, and free internet access to help families and first responders stay connected…
