SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — Local campground, Asheville East KOA Holiday, is officially back open after Helene forced the campground to close.
After extensive recovery following the storm, the campground is welcoming back campers for the first time in over a year.
“This park was initially built in 1970, and families have been coming here that long, 35, 40 years they’ve been coming here. Kids are coming, and their kids are coming, and so on. So, it’s a multi-generational park. People are happy to be back. They come into our store, and they’re crying because we’re open.
