Plans approved for new, larger Ingles store in Swannanoa

SWANNANOA, N.C. (WLOS) — The Buncombe County Board of Adjustment has approved plans for a new Ingles Markets location in Swannanoa, the county confirmed Thursday.

During a board meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the board voted to approve a Special Use Permit for the proposed Ingles application in Swannanoa.

The town’s only Ingles was overwhelmed by Hurricane Helene floodwaters on Sept. 27, 2024. Due to severe damage, it was unable to reopen, leaving the small community without a primary grocery store.
