Asheville water officials share lessons learned from Helene’s aftermath

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A year after Hurricane Helene left Asheville without drinking water for 53 days, city water officials joined researchers Thursday to discuss what went wrong, what went right, and what’s changing as a result.

The Asheville Water Resources Department took part in a webinar hosted by UNC Charlotte and the N.C. Collaboratory, titled “Rapid Restoration of Asheville’s Drinking Water System after Helene.”
