On Oct. 2, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) held a special ceremony asking for God’s blessings on rebuilding the Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ).
ABCCM’s Board, volunteers, staff and church leaders joined with representation from our federal leaders, state representatives, County Commissioners, City Council, business leaders and countless community members to show their support.
A New Beginning After the Storm
Since 2008, the VRQ has served as a beacon of hope for Veterans experiencing homelessness. It sustained significant damage during Hurricane Helene but remained structurally sound. The building was stripped down to the structural bones, thanks to the tireless efforts of Team Rubicon and the remediation work by Carefree Restoration Services.
The blessing ceremony reflected on ABCCM’s unwavering commitment to Veterans who, since Helene, are being served across the street at the old Quality Inn, which is now the new home of ABCCM Veterans Village…
