UNC Health, Pardee to Apply to Build Hospital in Buncombe, Joining Three Other Systems in 129-Bed Competition

UNC Health and UNC Health Pardee will seek to build a 129-bed hospital in Buncombe County, joining Mission Health, AdventHealth and Novant Health in a state-governed competition over hospital expansion, Asheville Watchdog has learned.

“We intend to file a proposal for the project with the state’s Certificate of Need office by Oct. 15,” UNC Health Pardee spokesperson Erica Allison said in a statement to The Watchdog, referencing the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services application deadline…
