2 arrested for stealing from NCDOT, deputies say

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people involved in stealing from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

Deputies said that between Sept. 22 and Sept. 24, NCDOT workers reported that numerous items had been removed from the property, including chainsaws, leaf blowers and a Makita hammer drill.

According to officials, camera footage provided by the DOT helped confirm the identity of 38-year-old Bynum Lee Little, Jr. of Nebo. Little was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of felony breaking and/or entering a motor vehicle and felony larceny
  • Two counts of felony breaking and/or entering a motor vehicle
  • Three counts of felony larceny

Additional charges are pending.

Deputies said that 41-year-old Brittany Dawn Owensby of Marion was also involved and charged with felony accessory after the fact. She was denied bond, as she was already out on pretrial release…
