Officer cleared after hitting pedestrian in Rutherford Co.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – The District Attorney’s Office for Rutherford and McDowell County found an officer was not at fault after striking a pedestrian with his car.

At approximately 4:17 a.m. on October 8, an officer with the Rutherford Police Department struck a pedestrian with his patrol car on South Main Street in Rutherfordton. Officials said at the time of the incident, it was dark and raining, and the victim was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, and had a blue and white umbrella.
