The internationally acclaimed outdoor art exhibition, ‘Trolls: A Field Study; featuring twelve whimsical trolls sculpted from reclaimed materials will make its U.S. premier this November, and it’s well worth the weekend trip out of the ATL. Keep trolling–er scrolling–to see how you can visit these gentle giants in the wild!

What is ‘Trolls: A Field Study’?

Produced by Imagine in collaboration with Danish artist Thomas Dambo, ‘Trolls: a Field Study’ is a collection of twelve giant trolls that are meant to be set up in nature. These friendly and fanciful sculptures evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue as you walk through the forest!

Each of these massive troll statues stands around seven to nine feet tall, and are lovingly described by their artist as ‘Baby Trolls.’ The sculptures are all hand-crafted out of repurposed materials, like fallen branches, wooden pallets and twigs. Each troll, as you’ll see, has a distinct personality, including their fearless leader, Taks.

Visiting on their first North American excursion, these twelve interactive troll sculptures will explore the Arboretum, embarking on a curious journey to learn about humankind. Visitors will be able to use a “treasure map” to track down the trolls and meet them face-to-face! In the coming months, the Arboretum is excited to reveal even more about these multi-faceted visitors.

When will this art exhibition be in the U.S.?

‘Trolls: A Field Study’ is set to be in the U.S. from November 15th, 2025 through Feb 17th, 2026. So don’t wait! See them before they pack up and mosey on to another spot around the globe!

Where are the giant trolls located?

The trolls will be rolling up into North Carolina at the The North Carolina Arboretum for their U.S. debut. The trolls will be placed throughout the Arboretum’s formal gardens and along its trails. That’s just 3.5 hours from Atlanta, and well worth the drive!…
