West Asheville neighbors question proposed 90-unit affordable housing complex

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — On Monday, neighbors met in the parking lot across the street from the southeast corner of Hazel Mill Road and North Louisiana Avenue, where Blue Ridge Atlantic Development is proposing a 90-unit affordable housing complex.

According to the 2025 Asheville Region Housing Needs Assessment, Buncombe County needs 6,956 units that are 80% area median income (AMI) or less. The developer says all the units in the proposed complex would be 80% AMI or lower.
