BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – Mission Health hospitals collected 323 pounds of medications during its annual prescription drug take-back day on Saturday.
The “Crush the Crisis” event aims to raise awareness about the danger of drug misuse and the importance of safe and proper disposal of unused or expired medications.
The totals from across Mission Health are as follows:
- Angel Medical Center in Franklin: 35 pounds
- Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine: 73 pounds
- Highlands-Cashiers Hospital in Highlands: 10 pounds
- Mission Hospital in Asheville: 146 pounds
- Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion: 44 pounds
- Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard: 15 pounds
According to officials, Mission Health was part of the 140 HCA Healthcare hospital collection sites across the US that participated in “Crush the Crisis” drug take-back day, marking the seventh year HCA Healthcare has hosted this event.
