ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Hurricane Melissa remains a very dangerous and even catastrophic storm with maximum winds now at 175 miles per hour as of 2 p.m. Monday.
It is expected to slowly turn to the north and east in the coming days, making landfall in western Jamaica early Tuesday morning, where hurricane warnings are in place.
Melissa will likely be the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Jamaica on record, and one of the strongest in the Caribbean on record as well.
