BeLoved Asheville to give EAT Cards amid SNAP cuts due to shutdown

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Local nonprofit BeLoved Asheville will be handing out gift cards from local stores called EAT Cards, according to a Facebook post.

BeLoved Asheville will be handing out the cards in response to the end of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on Nov. 1, as a result of the government shutdown.

“Hunger is rising in our community. Food prices are higher than ever, and families are stretched thin. And now, as SNAP benefits end for millions of working families, elders, children, and veterans, we refuse to stand by,” BeLoved Asheville said in their social media post…
