Explore priceless exhibits at Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas

Explore the history of the American military through rare artifacts and artfully curated exhibits at the Veterans Museum of the Carolinas in Brevard, including WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, War on Terror and Sea Service.

The museum is also home to numerous rotating special exhibits on chosen themes, ensuring a new experience for returning visitors. Among the new additions joining the museum in 2025 are:

Submarine anchor

The Veterans History Museum’s newest (and heaviest!) artifact is a submarine anchor gifted by the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Charleston, South Carolina. The anchor is from a Cold War era nuclear submarine that was in service from 1965-1995.

“The anchor was from a Ben Franklin class submarine, probably the USS Simon Bolivar,” said VHMC President David Morrow. “Its history started at the Charleston Naval Base when these submarines were being decommissioned. The anchor was taken off the sub and eventually mounted as a display. When the naval base closed, the artifact was transferred to Patriots Point until it was moved to Brevard.”…
