Two people arrested in fatal Asheville shooting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Two men have been arrested following a fatal shooting in Asheville on Friday, authorities said.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded just before 1 p.m. Friday to a report of a gunshot wound at 223 Oak Terrace Road. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old Jonathan Torres deceased.

Eighteen-year-old Izaiah Quinn Smith-Sheridan of Asheville was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder. On Sunday, Cory Robert Mitchell Garrison, 37, also of Asheville, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and accessory after the fact in connection with the case.
