More than 250 arrested in North Carolina immigration crackdown; agents spotted in Lenoir

LENOIR, N.C. (WLOS) — Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection are set to remain in North Carolina this week. More than 250 people have been arrested as of Wednesday, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). That figure is about double the amount announced by officials earlier this week.

So far, agents have made arrests in the Triangle area, Raleigh and Cary, according to WTVD. That’s in addition to the arrests that have been made in Charlotte, where the operation is centered.

DHS says among those arrested were those with “extensive immigration and criminal histories, including domestic violence, assault, breaking and entering, larceny, and driving while intoxicated.”…
