City of Asheville names interim police chief

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Asheville City Manager Debra Campbell announced on Friday the promotion of a veteran officer to interim chief of police.

Deputy Jackie Stepp, a 20-year veteran of Asheville Police Department was named Interim Police Chief. She will lead the department while the city searches for a replacement for APD Chief Michael Lamb, who announced his retirement in September.

“I am confident the department will continue delivering the highest level of service to our community under Interim Chief Jackie Stepp’s leadership,” said Campbell. “Her dedication to this organization and commitment to public service and safety will ensure a smooth and effective transition in this vital interim role.”…
