The City of Asheville is seeking public input on two riverfront recovery projects. These are the French Broad Riverfront Parks Project and the Azalea Parks and Infrastructure Project. Both projects address damage from Tropical Storm Helene in September 2024. The storm caused flooding and affected over 200 acres of parks and recreation areas along the French Broad and Swannanoa Rivers.
The city will hold an open house on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Asheville Middle School Cafeteria, 211 South French Broad Avenue. Free parking, children’s activities, light refreshments, and Spanish interpretation will be available. Residents can meet project teams, learn about the projects, and share their feedback.
An online survey will be open from November 24 to December 19, 2025, for those who cannot attend in person. Project team members will also attend community events in December.
