BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — With the temperatures dropping, Code Purple shelters will be open in Asheville on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27, according to an Asheville-Buncombe Continuum of Care press release.
There will be two women’s shelters:
- Safe Shelter – located at 27 Balm Grove
- Transit route: W2, W1, W6
- ABCCM’s Safe Haven at Transformation Village (for women and women with children) – located at 30 Olin Haven Way
- Transit route: W2
There will also be two men’s shelters:
- Safe Shelter – located at 91 New Leicester Highway
- Transit route: WE1 West
- Salvation Army – located at 204 Haywood Street
- Transit route: W5, WE1 West, WE2 West
The press release said Homeward Bound will provide Code Purple shelter at AHOPE with a “delayed start date,” the press release said. The organization suggests staying updated with alerts on when the site will be active.
Entry for all shelters begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m., according to the Asheville-Buncombe CoC. Sobriety and ID are not required for entry…
