ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) — A man facing a slew of charges, including murder, has additionally been charged with rape.
On Nov. 21, officers with the Asheville Police Department arrested Douglas Michael Stroupe in reference to a violent assault and the discovery of a murder scene on Warren Avenue. An investigation was initiated when police found a victim suffering critical injuries after he was reportedly beaten.
Stroupe was identified as a suspect and was quickly located near the scene, which then led to a welfare check at a nearby residence, where officers discovered a burglary and Jennifer Rose Gerard dead from apparent knife wounds…
