NORTH CAROLINA — Several school districts in Western North Carolina will not hold in-person classes on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, due to winter weather conditions affecting the region.
Multiple counties reported icy roads and hazardous travel, prompting officials to move to remote learning or cancel traditional classes altogether.
Avery County Schools, Mitchell County Schools and Yancey County Schools will operate through remote learning, meaning students will complete schoolwork online rather than reporting to school buildings.
