BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Holiday cheer filled the air Tuesday morning at Mission Children’s Hospital as the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office dropped off hundreds of donated toys for kids in outpatient care.
Over the past few weeks, the sheriff’s office has been collecting unwrapped toys for its toy drive. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, they unloaded a truck full of gifts into the lobby of Mission Children’s Specialists in Vanderbilt Park.
Families were able to pick out as many toys as they wanted.
“So, this is an opportunity for them to come in and get a gift, not just for the patient, but for kids that are in their home,” nurse manager Amber Hyman said. “For many, this may be the only way that they have a gift to give to their children.”…
