FLETCHER – The chill and drizzle on a recent December afternoon didn’t seem to slow down the volunteers, wearing Santa hats and reindeer antlers, as they waved thousands of cars zigzagging through a vast parking lot with flashing red batons.
MANNA Food Bank held a holiday food distribution drive-through Dec. 18, aiming to serve 1,000 cars at the two-hour event and “spread holiday cheer” along the way.
A line of cars snaked from one end of the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center to the other, waiting to pick up boxes full of produce, meat, eggs and other food, “enough to help families enjoy a full holiday meal,” according to a Dec. 11 news release…
