Smart Bets: Caverns of Gold

In the wake of Tropical Storm Helene, a small but mighty group of local artists organized Caverns of Gold, a Bandcamp-exclusive compilation featuring nearly 300 musical groups. Proceeds from sales benefited the relief efforts of local nonprofit BeLoved Asheville.

Just over a year later, the Caverns of Gold leadership team keeps the generosity going with a showcase at The Orange Peel on Friday, Jan. 9, featuring some of those brain trust members’ punk bands. Pinkeye, Lower Peaks, Why Why? and John Kirby Jr & the New Seniors will each perform sets. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM), which will also host a warm-clothing drive at the show. Attendees are encouraged to bring coats, jackets, hats, gloves and other cold-weather essentials to help ABCCM’s critical outreach work across Western North Carolina. Tickets are $15.
