Two people arrested following drug bust in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Two Marion residents are facing multiple felony charges after authorities said a large quantity of fentanyl was recovered during a traffic stop earlier this month.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 4, 2026, for a traffic violation. The vehicle was driven by Patrick Ryan Poteat, 34, and occupied by Amanda Dawn Boone, 31.

Authorities said a K-9 officer and deputies searched the vehicle and discovered 12.71 grams of fentanyl. Boone is also accused of possessing drug paraphernalia…
