Protesters rally in Waynesville to honor woman fatally shot by ICE agent and demand change

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Around 100 people also gathered at the Haywood County Courthouse for another anti-ICE protest hosted by the Hands-Off Haywood Coalition on Thursday, Jan. 8.

“We’re going to get our country back and we’re going to get democracy back. It’s a long road ahead, but the people you see out here will continue to come out and we will continue to fight,” protestor Mary Ford said.

Folks took to the streets of downtown Waynesville for what organizers dubbed an “emergency protest,” in memory of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed in her car by an ICE agent in Minneapolis…
